Kick off Your Heels Call for Art Shoes

Important dates to remember:
December 1, 2012: Call for art shoes issued
February 15, 2013: online registration opens
April 5, 2013: submission deadline extended
April  30, 2013: Artists notified of acceptance
May 2013: Sale begins on line

Shoe criteria
Start with a pair of purchased shoes.  Shoes must be womens size 6 and above with at least a 3" heel.  They should be a pump style shoe.  No boots, sneakers or sandals please.  

You can alter your shoes in any way you like but you may not cut the heel off to create a flat shoe.  Cut, drill, manipulate, string beads, draw, cover, paint, collage etc. the surface of your shoes.  Your only  personal  artistic style and/or the skies the limit.  The artwork cannot exceed 4" beyond the shoes.  The high heels don't have to be wearable, but more like art pieces that stand on a table and they must be able to stand on their own without props.  

All of your embellishments must be firmly attached to the shoes so that nothing will fall off when they are shipped to their buyer.

Other information
All shoes submitted to and accepted for sale in the Kick off Your Heels fundraiser must be made available for sale on the Kick Off Your Heels website in May of 2013.   Pre-sales of shoes will not be accepted.

Artists agree that once their shoes are sold they will ship them to the buyer.  Shoes must be packaged carefully to insure their safe delivery to the buyer without damage and we recommend using a shipping service that provides tracking numbers.  Artists will be responsible for any shipping charges incurred and should be aware that they may have to ship their shoes overseas.   Artists will not be compensated for any shipping charges.  All shoes must be shipped to the buyer within 3 days of receiving the shipping address.

All funds raised from the sale of the Art Shoes will be donated to the The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

All art call submission monies received will be used towards marketing, promotions and website fees with any surplus being donated to The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California.  

Entry Fee: $5.00 (U. S.) per artist for each pair of shoes submitted. The entry fee is nonrefundable.
